Our
Story

Tillery Christian Academy

We are a growing private Christian Pre-K (K4)-12th grade school located on the campus of Memorial Baptist Church in Norwood, NC.  We were established in 2017.  We are committed to providing a Biblical worldview education to our students and partnering with parents to help our students flourish in and out of the classroom.  We would love a chance to meet with you and let you know more about our school!

About Our School

1

Mission Statement

In partnership with families, we seek to pursue excellence in education while promoting a biblical worldview in a secular society.

2

Beliefs

  • All students can learn at high levels.

  • We must hold ourselves and our students to high expectations.

  • We must be positive Christian role models for our students.

  • Mistakes are learning opportunities for our students.

  • Feedback to students should be positive, honest, and specific.

  • Students need to have ownership over their own learning.

3

Vision

Tillery Christian Academy will foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive learning environment to maximize all students’ academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth.

4

Purpose

Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (NKJV) is the philosophical foundation for Tillery Christian Academy. The school exists to prepare students for citizenship in both God’s kingdom and in secular society by fostering their spiritual, academic, physical, social, and emotional growth. To that end, our purpose is to engage stakeholders (students, families, staff, board of directors, and the greater community) in a joint effort to provide a rigorous academic environment with a biblical worldview for the children and youth of Stanly County and surrounding counties so that each child may develop to his/her fullest potential mentally, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

5

Approach to Learning

Rather than espouse one specific educational philosophy, the approach to learning at TCA is a blend of approaches designed to provide a rigorous learning environment that supports the cognitive and social growth of the child as well as the development of a biblical worldview. Classrooms offer opportunities to investigate, problem solve, engage in critical thinking, listen attentively and apply strategies both independently and collaboratively. We believe that a blend of approaches allows instruction to be tailored to best fit learning objectives and individual learning styles so that students develop the skills needed for success in venues of higher learning and participation in twenty-first century society.

Core Values

Developed through collaboration between representatives of all stakeholders, our core values encompass all the tangible and intangible things that are most important to the stakeholders of Tillery Christian Academy and set it apart from other private Christian schools. Our core values are also what make working for Tillery Christian Academy unique. Our values form the very heart of our school.

-Meeting students’ needs and helping them grow physically, emotionally, socially, academically, and especially in their relationship with God. We value the carrying out of our mission.
-Christian education that fosters students’ spiritual relationship with God is highly prized.
-Small class sizes are valued because they better facilitate the carrying out of our mission.
-We place a high value on positive relationships; fostering good relationships between all stakeholders (students, staff, families, members of the board of directors, and community members) is important.

-We value a good, positive working relationship between members of the board of directors, the headmistress, and other staff members. It is important to us to create a sense of family between all stakeholders who support one another. The staff values working alongside like-minded Christians.
